ARSENAL TARGET JAMES WARD-PROWSE NOMINATED FOR POTY

Southampton midfielder and captain Ward-Prowse, linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Manchester United in the summer transfer window, is among the nominees for the prestigious Premier League Player of the Year award.

Salah, Son, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Joao Cancelo, Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka and Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United have also been nominated.

The Daily Star reported last month that Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City all are keen on signing Ward-Prowse from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

We do not think that James Ward-Prowse will win the award, but that the Southampton star is in the running is encouraging for Arsenal.

It shows just how good the midfielder is, and given that he is 27 now, he is in his prime now and would be able to make an immediate impact at Arsenal.

The Sun have reported that Ward-Prowse will cost £75 million.

Now, that is a lot of money, but if Arsenal finish in the Champions League places, then they would be able to afford it.

The midfielder has scored nine goals and given five assists in 34 Premier League appearances for Southampton this season.
