AS ROMA YOUNGSTER AFENA SET TO BE NAMED IN GHANA TEAM TO FACE NIGERIA

Felix Afena-Gyan could be named in the Black Stars squad to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers play off

The 19-year-old recovered from injury to feature for AS Roma in the victory against Atalanta over the weekend in Italy Interim. Black Stars coach Otto Addo is beefing up his attack ahead of the game against the Super Eagles later this month.

Ghanaian teen sensation Felix Afena-Gyan could be part of the Black Stars team to face Nigeria in the crucial World Cup qualifier later this month. The 19-year-old AS Roma forward returned from injury to feature for the Italian giants as they defeated Atalanta over the weekend. His injury return is a huge boost for interim Black Stars coach Otto Addo, who is struggling to name his squad due to fitness problems with Ghanaian players abroad.

Felix Afena is having a breakthrough campaign in Italy’s topflight, after making his debut late last year. He failed to report to camp for the pre-AFCON camping and subsequently dropped from the squad for the tournament in Cameroon. He is reported to have spoken with Otto Addo and could join the team as Ghana eyes a place in Qatar 2022.

DePredict reported that Felix Afena-Gyan made a cameo appearance for AS Roma in their hard-fought victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. Tammy Abraham strike was enough to hand Jose Mourinho’s side their second consecutive win in Serie A. Afena-Gyan started the game from the bench and he was introduced late in the game after he replaced Rick Karsdorp in the 83rd minute.

Jose Mourinho recalls Afena-Gyan into Roma first team. Mourinho has selected Felix Afena-Gyan to the squad ahead of their tough fixture against Atalanta on Saturday. The Giallorossi will host Atalanta on Saturday evening as they aim to continue their winning ways after they recorded a (1-0) hard-fought win at Spezia – their first victory in five games. Reports circulated that Afena-Gyan was demoted to AS Roma’s Primavera (U-19 team) by the Portuguese gaffer after he reportedly went nightclubbing last weekend after their away Serie A fixture.
