Barcelona Could Sign Arda Guler For €5 Million, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal Also Interested

A recent report from AS has offered an update on the future of Arda Guler. The teenage sensation from Fenerbahce has impressed onlookers with his performances in the Super Lig and is being branded as the ‘Turkish Messi’.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Guler’s creativity and dribbling prowess have made him a wanted prospect in the market, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in his services.

It is no secret that the Catalans are hunting cost-effective options in the market, in their attempt to strengthen the squad while avoiding Financial Fair Play sanctions. As part of their plans, Guler has seemingly emerged as one of the options.

English media has recently reported that Arsenal are willing to put an offer of more than €20 million on the table to sign the Fenerbahce starlet in the coming summer.

But the report from AS suggests Guler has a special clause in his contract that would allow clubs such as Barça to sign him for a paltry fee of just €5 million.

Fenerbahce can eliminate the release clause if they hand the youngster 1,500 minutes of football during the course of the 2022/23 campaign. But that appears to be difficult, with Guler only featuring in 600 minutes this term.

In order to reach the magic figure, Guler would almost have to feature in all available matches during the remainder of the campaign. Barcelona, therefore, could stand to benefit from this market opportunity and sign the ‘Turkish Messi’ for a cut-price figure in the summer.

Given how well Barcelona have developed talents under Xavi, it will not come as a surprise to see Guler himself favouring a move to Camp Nou.

However, with clubs like Atletico Madrid and Arsenal also involved in the chase, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the youngster.
