Barcelona Have Assured Key Duo Their Contract Registrations Will Be Taken Care Of

Xavi’s Barcelona is known for its young blood and upcoming talents who punch well above their weight. Of the several proteges the manager has at his disposal, Ronald Araujo and Gavi are amongst the most vital.

Both players are regulars under the Spanish tactician and have taken part in most of Barcelona’s high-voltage clashes this season. Yet, they find themselves in a difficult situation due to their new contracts not being registered.

According to reports from SPORT, Gavi and Araujo are a little disillusioned with their contractual situations and registration with La Liga. However, the club have assured them that their new contracts will be registered this summer before any new signings or renewals are made.

The registration of Gavi’s new contract with Barcelona was completed in the recent winter transfer window. The player was announced as a member of the first team and even donned a new number to show for it.

However, Javier Tebas’ decision to contest the youngster’s renewal in court led to the procedure being undone. Earlier this week, La Liga removed Gavi as a first-team registered player on the Catalan roster.

The situation with Araujo is different. Barcelona and the Uruguayan agreed on a contract renewal that would see him receive a significant salary hike and a release clause of €1 billion in 2022. After a complete agreement and signing of the contract, his new deal did not get registered.

The centre-back is a first-team player but wishes for his new contract to be registered with La Liga. Needless to say, it should be the Catalans’ first priority to sort out both youngsters’ contracts come June.
