Barcelona Interested In Signing Three Man City Stars In The Summer

The upcoming summer transfer window could be a crucial one for FC Barcelona as they look to reinforce their ranks all across the pitch.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona may approach Manchester City multiple times over the course of the coming summer, as they are targeting multiple players from the Premier League giants.

The club had already been long-linked with a move for Bernardo Silva, having notably tried to sign the Portuguese international last summer. Although the move collapsed, Barça are still in contention to sign the playmaker, who could reportedly cost around €65 million.

But in addition to Silva, Barcelona are also targeting Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan, as Xavi looks to reinforce his options in the midfield and defensive departments.

Gundogan has emerged as an appealing option for Barça as the German international’s contract at Etihad expires at the end of the season. His potential status as a free agent could enable the club to save a fortune.

In addition, the former Borussia Dortmund starlet is an excellent technician, who can also offer abundant experience at the highest level of football.

Laporte, meanwhile, has emerged as the latest defensive target for Barcelona. It appears the former Athletic Club starlet has fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola and would be open to a return to Spain, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in his services.

A move for Laporte could make sense as Xavi looks for more defensive cover, especially after the retirement of Gerard Pique, coupled with Eric Garcia’s struggles.

Barcelona have raided Man City for players quite a bit in recent times, having signed Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres. Whether there are any new names added to the list this summer will be interesting to see.
