Carlo Ancelotti Hopes To Face Ac Milan In Champions League’s Final

Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to face Milan in the Champions League’s final in Istanbul and he has stated that in an interview for Sky Sport.

“For me and Paolo Maldini, Istanbul does not bring back good memories”, Ancelotti said in reference to the Champions League final Milan lost against Liverpool in 2005 after being 3-0 up at half-time.

“I’ve got the utmost respect for Maldini, he’s been my captain and if we manage to see each other on my birthday it will be nice”.

Ancelotti’s birthday is on June 10th, the same day as when this year Champions League final takes place. It has been reported that Carlo Ancelotti called Milan’s Technical Director Paolo Maldini right after the quarter-final draw, as the latter confirmed during a video call with Milan fans in Kiev.

Maldini revealed that in that call, Ancelotti joked about Milan and Real Madrid facing each other in the Champions League final in Istanbul.

Real Madrid are set to face Chelsea in the quarter finals and if they’ll go through to the semifinals, they’ll face the winner of the Manchester City-Bayern Munich match up. City did pick up a dominating 3-0 win over Bayern and pretty much have one foot in the next round of the competition already.
