CAVENDISH AND ALAPHILIPPE MISS OUT ON TOUR DE FRANCE.

Mark Cavendish equalled Eddy Merckx’s record of 34 Tour de France stage wins last year, but will not get the chance to move ahead after being left out of the Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team, despite the British rider saying he is “going so much better than last year”. World champion Julian Alaphilippe also misses out as he continues his recovery from a crash at Liege–Bastogne–Liege.

Mark Cavendish has been left out of Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl’s eight-man team for the Tour de France.

Sprinter Fabio Jakobsen has been selected as the team’s preferred sprinter, as expected, despite the British rider’s impressive form and his national road race title at the weekend.

World champion Julian Alaphilippe also misses out as he continues his recovery from his crash at Liege–Bastogne–Liege.
