HEUNG MIN SON RECEIVES SOUTH KOREA’S HIGHEST SPORTING PRAISE AFTER STELLAR PREMIER LEAGUE CAMPAIGN

Son Heung-min’s incredible season with Tottenham Hotspur has not gone unnoticed as he was awarded the highest sporting diadem in South Korea

Son Heung-min was awarded the Cheongnyong Medal, his country’s highest sporting honour, by South Korea’s president, Yoon Seok-youl.

Son received the individual accolade on the back of becoming the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot winner with 23 goals.

In a photo posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Son, dressed in a dark suit, walked into the packed stadium as the crowd cheered with the president, Yoon Seok-youl presented the award much to the joy of the crowd.

Son received South Korea’s topmost sporting honour after he won the Golden Boot award to cap off a stellar Premier League campaign.

The crowd cheered with a banner reading: “We are living in the era of world-class Son Heung-min.”

He received the prize before South Korea’s friendly against five-time world champions Brazil at the Seoul World Cup Stadium – which ended in a landslide victory for the South Americans.

The Tottenham Hotspur star, who is currently on international assignment with South Korea, enjoyed a stellar campaign, finishing the just-concluded season as the Premier League Golden Boot winner alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah
