KAIZER CHIEFS SET TO RELEASE EXPERIENCED CAMPAIGNERS

The future of several experienced Kaizer Chiefs players seems uncertain after Arthur Zwane admitted that there are likely to be wholesale changes to the current squad.

Experienced campaigners such as Itumeleng Khune, Eric Mathoho and Bernard Parker could all depart Naturena after an underwhelming campaign.

Head coach Stuart Baxter was recently sacked from a second spell as head coach with the Soweto giants suffering from a disastrous run of four consecutive defeats in the league.

“Yes, as I have eluded to earlier on, we have players who have been part and parcel of the team for many years now,” Zwane said.

“Over the past six or seven years things have not been going our way and that alone tells you that there needs to be a change.

“At the end of the day it’s football, we are in the business of football where we need results.

“When it comes to that we will try and see who we will bring in, in terms of beefing up the squad and also the players that should be released.

“But, with the rate, we are going at as a club, there is no way we can still be saying we’ve got quality when we are not winning games.

“When you talk about quality, you have to be winning and challenging for honours. If not, then I will be lying to you and myself if I insist the current players will get it right.

“Some will get it right and some will not get it right and as a club, the time will come for change and it’s not fair and I think the time is now to make those changes.

“We have to rebuild and look for players good enough to come and play for this team so that we return to where we belong.

Kaizer Chiefs are set to host Marumo Gallants in their next league encounter at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
