Man United Remain Interested In Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer

Manchester United remain interested in Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer, according to Christian Falk.

Sommer only moved to Bayern last winter when the club were in search of a quick replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer.

Since his move from Borussia Mönchengladbach, the 34-year-old has featured in every game for the reigning champions.

However, there is a mutual agreement between the goalkeeper and the club that if Neuer returns in the summer, he will take the number one spot and the Swiss international can leave in the same transfer window.

With the European Championships on the horizon, it would make sense for Sommer to seek regular football elsewhere right away.

He cannot afford to sit on the bench at Bayern as his compatriots Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund) and Jonas Omlin (Gladbach) will both continue to play at their clubs.

Manchester United’s interest in Sommer dates back to his Gladbach days. The Red Devils have long monitored him as a possible replacement or competitor to David de Gea.
