MANAGER BIOGRAPHY
Thomas Tuchel is a German professional football manager and former player who is the current head coach of Premier League club Chelsea. He is considered one of the best managers in the world due to his style of management and tactical knowledge.
Thomas Tuchel has been Chelsea’s head coach since January 2021.
When a knee injury ended his playing career at 25, the German became a youth coach and eventually earned the top job at Mainz in 2009, replacing Jurgen Klopp and twice securing UEFA Europa League qualification.
He went on to succeed Klopp again at Borussia Dortmund in April 2015, and secured the club’s first trophy for five years with the 2016/17 German cup.
Tuchel’s next club was Paris Saint-Germain, and in his two full seasons there he won the league twice, lifted both domestic cups and took his side to the UEFA Champions League final, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
He left PSG on Christmas Eve 2020 but soon had another job, replacing Frank Lampard at Chelsea on 26 January 2021.
Tuchel took over with the Blues ninth in the Premier League, but he led them to a fourth-place finish.
He guided the club to the FA Cup final too in a hugely impressive start to his tenure, beating Manchester City along the way, but Leicester City won 1-0 at Wembley Stadium.
Tuchel also reached his second successive UEFA Champions League final, and this time he was victorious as Chelsea beat Man City 1-0, winning the trophy for only the second time in their history.
