Messi Makes History As PSG Beats Nice

PSG got back to winning ways, cruising past Nice away from home to reclaim a six point lead at the top of Ligue 1.

Here is what went down Allianz Riviera.

Nice – 0

PSG – 2

Scorers: Messi 26′, Ramos 76′

While it took some time, PSG’s threat began to loom in the opening exchanges. Lionel Messi did his best to drop into midfield and get his foot on the ball, but Nice stayed resolute.

The Parisians finally struck for the opener shortly before the half-hour mark, as Messi ghosted in between a number of Nice defenders to collect a cross and stab home from close range.

Nice clawed their way back into the game as the second half wore on, and began to cause the PSG rearguard a host of problems. They came closest to leveling the score when Dante’s shot beat Gianluigi Donnarumma, but just barely stayed out after hitting the post.

They were made to rue their missed chances, as Sergio Ramos headed home PSG’s second of the night from a corner with just 15 minutes remaining, driving the final nail into Nice’s coffin.

With the assist on Ramos’ goal, Messi registered his 1,000th club goal contribution in his career.

The solid showing sees PSG bring a two-game losing run to an end, and extends their lead atop Ligue 1 back to six points.
