Newcastle United Weighing Up Summer Move For Barcelona Winger

Raphinha has had an up-and-down debut season at FC Barcelona. Since joining the Blaugrana from Leeds United in the summer, the 26-year-old has seen highs and lows and is yet to nail down a regular berth in Xavi Hernandez’s starting XI.

The manager’s change in formation wherein he started using four central midfielders also affected his game-time. But, Ousmane Dembele’s injury in late January has ensured that the Brazilian has had some continuity in the lineup.

Raphinha, during this time, has made some vital contributions to the team, but has also underwhelmed on occasions. Given his inconsistent debut season, coupled with Barça’s need to make cuts to their wage bill has left the door open for a summer departure.

And, according to the latest reports from DEPREDICT, Newcastle United have shown an interest in taking Raphinha back to the Premier League from Barcelona.

The Magpies have been one of the biggest spenders in England ever since they were subjected to a takeover by the Saudi Arabian PIF.

The investments made into the squad have paid off as Newcastle are pushing for Champions League football and also made it to the Carabao Cup final, where they lost to Manchester United.

More spending is likely on the cards for the summer and Raphinha has been identified as a potential target, with a move now being weighed up.

Barcelona reportedly turned down an offer of around €70 million from Arsenal for Raphinha.

If Newcastle are to sign the ex-Leeds United ace, they will likely have to stump up a bigger fee, considering that the Blaugrana spent €58 million (plus €9 million in variables) for his signing.
