PSG And Man United In Talks Over Neymar Transfer

PSG and Manchester United have entered into talks over the possibility of bringing out-of-favour Brazilian playmaker Neymar (31) to Old Trafford, according to a report from L’Equipe.

The 31-year-old is seriously considering leaving the French capital after sealing a record-breaking €222m transfer from Barcelona to PSG six years ago. Furthermore, PSG won’t get in the way of their player’s desire to leave. Neymar is tied to a contract with PSG set to expire in 2027, but the French club’s wish to put Kylian Mbappé (24) front and centre of their sporting strategy is not to the Brazilian’s liking.

L’Equipe claim that several Premier League clubs have entered into talks with PSG relating to Neymar, and the most advanced at this stage are with Manchester United. The fourth-placed Red Devils need only one point to qualify for the Champions League next season. With arch-rivals Manchester City on course to seal a treble, United need a show of force this summer to close the gap on their neighbours. Talks are said to be active between all the parties involved. Brazilian midfielder Casemiro (31) is reportedly pushing for his fellow countryman to join him.

Manchester United would favour a loan while PSG would prefer to let go of Neymar with a permanent transfer. A meeting is expected between PSG Sporting advisor Luis Campos and the player’s entourage. L’Equipe add that Chelsea are still monitoring the player’s situation, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League might prove detrimental to their efforts to sign Neymar.
