Report: Barcelona Closely Following Dortmund Striker Paris Brunner

Borussia Dortmund have been home to some of the most talented players in world football over the past decade or so.

Especially in the attacking department, the club have nurtured a series of talented players who have gone on to become world-class. Youssoufa Moukoko is the most recent example, having made his breakthrough at Dortmund earlier in the season.

But Moukoko is not the only young striker making waves at BVB this season. Paris Brunner, who currently plies his trade for the BVB U-19 setup, has been a star attraction in the German youth leagues this season, racking up a whopping 22 goals in 22 matches in all competitions.

Brunner’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Josep Capdevila reporting that Barcelona are among the clubs keeping close tabs on the development of the 17-year-old.

The Spanish journalist claims Barcelona have been monitoring Brunner’s progress for two years now. They have good reports of the player, who stands at 1.86m and offers a similar physical profile as Robert Lewandowski.

Brunner’s numbers in youth leagues are also indicative of the youngster’s goalscoring prowess, even though he is yet to make a breakthrough in professional football.

Barça, therefore, are keen on pouncing on an opportunity to sign the teenage whizkid, especially after missing out on Moukoko earlier in the year. The German international, despite favouring a move to Barcelona in the summer, opted to renew his deal at Dortmund in order to continue his development.

Dortmund will be hoping to secure the future of Brunner as well, especially given the talent and the potential he has shown at such a young age. Barcelona, though, must be patient in their pursuit of the German and allow him to make his professional breakthrough in the Bundesliga before they make any move for the youngster.
