Report: Lionel Messi Father To Hold Fresh Round Of Talks With Inter Miami

It has become abundantly clear that Lionel Messi will not be continuing at PSG beyond the current season after the club suspended him for two weeks for an allegedly unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

A move to Barcelona seems likely on the cards for the Argentina captain, with reports suggesting that he is prioritising a return. But the club’s Financial Fair Play situation will have a major say in whether the deal can go through or not.

In the scenario that Barça do not have enough salary margin to re-sign their former captain, he will need to have other options to fall back on.

One such option is a move to the MLS, where Inter Miami have been interested in securing his services for a long time.

And according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Jorge Messi, the father and agent of Leo, will hold a fresh round of talks with Inter Miami’s owner Jorge Mas about a possible move.

The report suggests that the two parties have held talks in the past and had been working on a pre-agreement but it was left unsigned.

However, the MLS club, partly owned by Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham, remain intent on signing Messi and are not ready to give up as of yet.

But they will have to battle with Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, who are ready to offer a mammoth €400 million net salary per season, along with another €100-200 million in possible sponsorship deals.

It will be hard for Inter Miami to compete with Barça, as Messi wants a return. In the case that it does not materialise, the MLS outfit would be unable to match the outrageous offer that has been tabled by Al-Hilal.

But, the 35-year-old superstar has previously spoken about his desire to play in the USA before he calls time on his career. And, it remains to be seen which path he takes now that the bridges have been burnt at PSG.
