The rumours of Lionel Messi potentially returning to FC Barcelona are starting to gain weight with each passing day.
On Friday, reports emerged that La Liga believes that Messi has agreed to come back to Barcelona had already started working on the marketing strategy for his return.
Now, Joan Fontes is reporting that sources close to the negotiations are claiming that Messi to Barcelona is very hot right now. The 35-year-old is understood to want to return to the Catalan outfit at all costs in the summer.
Messi left Barcelona for PSG in the summer of 2021, after the club could not renew his contract due to financial problems.
But his contract with Les Parisiens expires at the end of the ongoing season.
While there had been talks over a renewal with the French champions, things have not gone according to plans, and with the relationship with PSG fans deteriorating, an exit is looking very much on the cards.
There has been interest from clubs in the MLS and Saudi Arabia, but Messi is keen on continuing in Europe for at least one more year. It has put Barcelona in the driving seat.
It has previously been reported that Messi has constantly been in touch with Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez and has revealed his desire to return to the club in the future.
