Report: PSG Interested In Signing €65m Barcelona Midfielder Target

The coming summer will be an important one for FC Barcelona, as they look to shore up their options in all areas of the pitch.

One of Xavi’s top targets is Bernardo Silva. The Barcelona coach has been keeping an eye on the Manchester City playmaker for a while now and considers him an ideal midfield partner for Pedri in the interior positions.

There are even reports suggesting Silva’s desire to leave Etihad Stadium at the end of the season. Man City themselves are reportedly prepared to offload the playmaker for a fee of around €65 million, which is quite a market opportunity for Barça.

However, according to Diario SPORT, PSG have entered the race to sign Bernardo Silva, with the conviction of beating Barça to the chase.

After their early elimination from the UEFA Champions League, PSG are ready to make major changes to the squad in the coming summer, which could include the sale of Neymar. Even Kylian Mbappe has been asked to make a decision on his future, amid interest from Real Madrid.

Bernardo Silva is one of the options the club are considering, in their bid to strengthen the squad. The Portuguese international is not too keen on playing for the French outfit, but he might join them if he has no option, especially with Barça not in a position to pay €65 million.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos maintains a good relationship with Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes. And if everything goes well, it appears Les Parisiens could be in a pole position to secure the services of the former AS Monaco starlet.

The onus is now on Barcelona to make a move, preferably by offloading some of their unwanted players in order to generate revenue. But even then, paying off Silva’s asking price could be tricky, considering the fact that the club must reduce €200 million from the salary mass.
