Early Life And Education

Viktor Hovland was born on 18 September 1997 in Oslo, Norway, to Harald and Gelina Hovland.

He grew up with his two siblings, Julie Hovland and Mats Eriksen Hovland, and began playing golf at 11 after his father brought him clubs.

His father, who worked in the States then and it was his father who taught Viktor how to play, and he regularly practiced at an indoor driving range.

Hovland attended WANG Toppidrett High School back home in Norway and then, for further studies, traveled to the States and enrolled at Oklahoma State University.

He played college golf in Oklahoma for four years and subsequently turned pro in 2019.


Viktor Hovland carved his name in golf history with an impressive win at the 2018 US Amateur Championship.

He became the first-ever Norwegian player to clinch the coveted title, propelling himself onto the international golfing stage.
