A 19 Year Old Tennis Player Ranked 21st In The World
Leylah Fernandez’s first appearance since the Australian Open
Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez (won her first WTA Tour title at the 2021 Monterrey Open ) who was born in September 6, 2002 and has a career-high ranking of number 19 by the Women’s Tennis Association achieved on 7 February 2022. Fernandez rescued five of six break points on her way towards a 6-1 4-6 7-6(3) victory over China’s Qinwen Zheng in Monterrey, Mexico.
This 19-year-old, who is currently ranked 21st in the world, will now meet either Wang Qiang of China or Mayer Sherif of Egypt in the next round after what was her first tournament appearance since her first round defeat in the Australian Open.
