AC Milan will reportedly target AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni if the Serie A side is sold to Bahrain-based asset manager Investcorp this week, with Liverpool also interested in the France international.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian giants could embark on a €300m (£250m) transfer spree in the summer should Investcorp complete their takeover of the club in the coming days, with Milan set to be sold for €1bn (£830m) as per the Daily Mail.
And as per Gazzetta dello Sport, Tchouameni is just one name Milan’s potential new owners want to bring to the San Siro, with the Ligue 1 star one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe ahead of the summer.
Real Madrid are currently the favourites to sign the £83m-rated 22-year-old, with Liverpool also hot on Tchouameni’s heels, yet Milan’s pending takeover could put the Italian giants right in the thick of the race.
With the Rossoneri in the driving seat for the Serie A title, a first Scudetto in over a decade and new owners could signal a new era for Milan, and beating Liverpool to Tchouameni could be an incredible coup for the club.
Indeed, Liverpool beat Milan twice this season in the UEFA Champions League to eliminate the historic Italian side from Europe, yet pouncing for Tchouameni would be an impressive way of getting revenge on the Reds.
After crashing out of Europe from the hands of Liverpool, signing Tchouameni would be the perfect act of revenge for Milan, with the prospect of this surprising move ever-increasing.
Hailed as a ‘complete midfielder’ by Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell, Tchouameni has the potential to be one of the top players in Europe for years to come, which is what could make Milan’s interest in the youngster a cruel blow for Liverpool.
