- Ajax Identify Atalanta Midfielder Thiago Almada As Possible Replacement For Mohammed Kudus.
According to De Telegraaf, Ajax have set their sights on Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada, as they look to bring in a new attacking midfielder before the transfer window closes.
With Mohammed Kudus reportedly on his way out of the Amsterdam club, technical director Sven Mislintat wants to bring in Thiago Almada to quickly reinstall some attacking quality into the squad. The highly rated 22-year-old is currently in the interest of several top clubs in Europe.
Almada received six minutes of playing time for Argentina during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and therefore he can officially call himself a world champion. Since then, the former Vélez Sarsfield midfielder has scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in 22 MLS appearances for Atlanta United.
The four-time Argentina international is currently valued at around €25m, but it’s believed that Ajax could pick the midfielder up for less as he plays his football outside of Europe. A fee of €15, excluding bonuses, might just be enough to bring him to the Johan Cruyff Arena. Ajax are expected to receive around €45m for the sale of Mohammed Kudus, which would make a move for Thiago Almada, very achievable.
