Ajax ‘Not Happy’ For Klassieker New Date
- New Klassieker Date Confirmed But Ajax ‘Not Happy’.
Ajax and Feyenoord will play the remainder of their suspended Klassieker on Wednesday, 27 September.
The rescheduling arrives after fans in Amsterdam shared their frustrations with Ajax’s recent performances over the weekend.
Feyenoord were up 3-0 just before half-time, and Ajax fans did not stop throwing flares onto the pitch after an initial halt in the match, leading to a suspension.
Rather than awarding Feyenoord the three points, a statement confirmed: “The basic principle is that the competition must be as fair as possible and that a match should therefore preferably be decided on the field.”
The match will be played behind closed doors starting in the 55th minute.
However, as per De Telegraaf, Ajax are not happy with the decision as it postpones their clash with FC Volendam. Both of these clubs will reportedly consider taking action against the KNVB.
“The competition and cup program is now being adjusted by the KNVB for at least four clubs to allow an abandoned match to be played out,” read a statement from Ajax.
“Not only the clubs but also the supporters are victims of this. That is why we are considering legal action.”
FC Volendam chairman Jan Smit later posted on social media, claiming, “Both Ajax and FC Volendam do not agree with this ridiculous decision.”
Following the weekend scenes in Amsterdam, Ajax also confirmed the departure of sporting director Sven Mislintat.
