Looking back, he had suffered from a medical condition early in his life. Alfie was born with a congenital heart defect that required surgery at six months.
Likewise, he suffered from Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, a hip disorder that inhibits blood flow from the pelvis to the hip joint.
Due to these conditions, Alfie has been using a wheelchair since six years old. Though he can walk, he lacks typical mobility and cannot participate in able-bodied sports.
