Andres Iniesta Could Play For Barcelona Again In The Friendly Vs Vissel Kobe
In what could be a very special and emotional moment, Andres Iniesta could be seen playing for FC Barcelona once again in the near future, reports Jordi Gil of SPORT.
The 39-year-old Barça legend announced earlier today that he will be leaving his current club Vissel Kobe in the summer. The 2010 FIFA World Cup winner will be playing his final game for the Japanese outfit against Consodale Sapporo on July 1.
Iniesta spoke about a possible return to Barcelona earlier today but confirmed that it is not on the cards at this moment.
While he might not be returning to his boyhood club anytime soon, there could be a possibility that fans get to see Iniesta in Barça colours.
The La Liga champions are set to play Vissel Kobe in a post-season friendly in Japan on June 6. And, the idea of Iniesta playing one half for Barcelona and another half for his current employers is being studied at the moment.
Given that he is still under contract with Vissel Kobe and will be so until July 1, such a proposal would require a green light from the J1-League outfit.
Such a move would be a great moment of nostalgia for Barcelona fans as they could see one of their greatest-ever players feature for the team again, that too under his former partner-in-crime, Xavi Hernandez.
With Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets also leaving at the end of the season, it would be a sight to behold to see them share the pitch with Iniesta, even if it would be only for 45 minutes or so.
As iterated earlier, the idea is in nascent stages and will need an approval from Vissel Kobe, with officials hoping that the proposal takes shape in the coming days.
