Armando Broja To Return To Action For Chelsea After Six Months Injury Lay-Off
Chelsea striker Armando Broja is nearing his return and will step up his recovery from a long-term injury that has kept him out since last year, according to Standard Sport.
The 21-year-old will travel with the Chelsea under-21 side to their pre-season training camp in Portugal. He is fighting to be fit to impress incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine manager resumes his duties officially on July 1, and Broja will feel that he has a clean slate to impress the new boss.
Chelsea’s under-21 begin their preparations tomorrow, and the Albian striker will be with them for the workouts.
Broja suffered the injury in December as the 2022 FIFA World Cup rumbled on. Players that did not go for the tournament spent their time back at Cobham and played a friendly match with Aston Villa.
The friendly match was just for the players to keep fit, but the centre-forward tore his cruciate ligament.
Despite the setback, Broja is fighting to impress Pochettino during the senior team’s tour of the United States.
Chelsea players will start preparing for next season on July 3. They will meet the manager for a meeting to outline objectives before they begin physical sessions the following day.
Broja will feel that there is a chance for him to keep a place in the first team next season.
Kai Havertz is seemingly on his way out of the club and heading towards Arsenal. Romelu Lukaku is pushing to stay at Inter Milan. There is a chance for someone to establish himself as Chelsea’s centre-forward.
The West London club is close to signing Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal. The Senegalese attacker will compete with David Datro Fofana and Broja to lead the attacking line next season.
However, there is a chance Broja could move away on loan to get enough game time in his legs.
