Arsenal are set to join the race for David Raya after “exploring” the viability of signing the Brentford goalkeeper.
According to the Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that Mikel Arteta’s side want to recruit the Spanish stopper as competition for Aaron Ramsdale.
The report also states that Raya is understood to favour a move to the Emirates Stadium, where ex-Brentford goalkeeping coach Iñaki Caña now works.
Bayern Munich had emerged as favourites for the 27-year-old’s signature after Tottenham dropped their interest in the long-term target earlier this summer.
But the Bundesliga champions’ reported preference for a loan is at odds with Thomas Frank’s recent admission admitted the Bees would be open to selling Raya.
Spain international Raya has made 150 appearances for Brentford since joining in summer 2019 and was an ever-present in last season’s ninth-place finish.
