Barcelona Among Clubs Interested In Borussia Monchengladbach Forward

Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram is a man in demand heading into the summer window as his contract with the Bundesliga club is set to expire at the end of the season.

And, according to Fabrizio Romano (via Caught Offside), Barcelona are one among several clubs interested in signing Thuram on a Bosman deal before the next season starts.

The 25-year-old forward has been at Gladbach for close to four years now and has grown into a reliable and consistent operator in the final third for the German outfit.

Thuram has produced a return of 14 goals and four assists in 24 matches across all competitions this season, showcasing his quality in front of goal.

Able to operate anywhere across the frontline, the French international can be a valuable asset for any club he joins. And, at 25, he would also be a long-term addition, hence it is not at all surprising that Barcelona have set their sights on him.

But, the La Liga leaders are not alone in the race for Thuram as Inter Milan and a few clubs from the Premier League are also keen on acquiring his services, writes Romano.

“There are really many clubs interested in Marcus Thuram. Barcelona, Inter but especially 2-3 Premier League clubs. It’s open and all of them are informed on the conditions of the deal, while Bayern are currently focused on different targets despite reports on Thuram.”

Barcelona are keen on signing a new striker in the summer and have made Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense their priority. Work is already being done to land the 18-year-old youngster in the summer.

However, adding another forward to the ranks would not be the worst idea as Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati have struggled for consistency this season and there is a possibility that one of them could be sold by the club to resolve their Financial Fair Play issues.

That is where Thuram would enter the picture as he would be arriving on a free transfer and would add depth across the frontline. However, with Premier League clubs also in the equation, Barcelona might have problems matching any contract offers that they table for the Frenchman.
