It is well-known that Barcelona have always had their eye on the Brazilian market for up-and-coming footballers with great potential. Over the years, the Catalans have roped in many young talents with some going on to be successful and others not so much.
Heading into the summer transfer window this year, the La Liga leaders are once again scouring the Brazilian footballing scenes to uncover the most exciting talents and sign them up.
And, according to Joaquim Piera of SPORT, Barcelona have their sights set on two strikers in the form of Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque and Kaua Elias of Fluminense.
The Blaugrana’s interest in Roque is well-established at this point, with the club making him their top target to reinforce the No. 9 position in the upcoming transfer window.
The 18-year-old prodigy, for his part, also wants to move to Spotify Camp Nou, but his valuation is proving to be a hurdle for Barcelona who continue to be mired in Financial Fair Play woes.
Amidst this, Roque is attracting serious interest from clubs in the Premier League where the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United want to sign him up. Barcelona, though, are not throwing in the towel yet and are working to find ways to sign Roque this summer.
As for the other young attacking prospect that Barcelona are tracking, Kaua Elias caught the Catalans’ eyes during the recent South American U-17 Championship, with the club scout in attendance sending back very positive reports on the young striker.
Currently a part of Fluminense’s U-20 team, it is expected that Kaua Elias will soon be promoted to the first-team setup.
And, Barça are keeping a close eye on the 17-year-old’s progress, although there are no immediate plans to make an approach for him, which would be the case with Roque, as the Catalans are intent on landing the Brazil international.
