Barcelona Could Be Without Five Stars For The Derby Against Espanyol
Barcelona will be aiming to take a step closer to lifting the La Liga title when they lock horns with CA Osasuna at Spotify Camp Nou later tonight.
The Blaugrana have an 11-point lead at the top of the table and could get their hands on the title as early as their next game against RCD Espanyol, if they beat Osasuna tonight and Real Madrid drop points against Real Sociedad.
However, they could reach the Catalan derby against Espanyol without five players who are facing the danger of suspension for accumulation of cards.
Barcelona take on their local rivals on May 14, Sunday, away at the RCDE Stadium and may well have to make do without five players for that clash.
Indeed, Alejandro Balde, Ferran Torres, Franck Kessie, Gavi, and Ousmane Dembele are all at the risk of missing Barcelona’s next game against Espanyol, in case they end up being cautioned in tonight’s clash against Osasuna.
Balde, Torres, Kessie, and Dembele are all on four yellow cards at the moment, while Gavi has nine bookings in the league.
Among the quintet, though, only Balde and Gavi are likely to start tonight’s match, with Dembele likely to make an appearance from the bench given that he has only recently returned from an injury.
But, irrespective of how many minutes they play, the aforementioned five stars will need to be careful to try and avoid a booking as they could end up missing out on the game against Espanyol, where Barça could potentially win the title.
