Barcelona Interested In Signing 21-Year-Old Brazilian Ace For The Right-Back Position
Although conflicting reports in Spain have claimed it is not a priority, it is no secret that Barcelona are in the market for a new right-back this summer.
Despite the versatility of players such as Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde, and Ronald Araujo, the club desperately require a proper long-term solution, who can help the club establish themselves in Europe.
According to SPORT, Vanderson has emerged as an appealing target for Barcelona lately. The young right-back from AS Monaco has impressed the technical staff of Barça, who are clear about going after the player in the coming summer.
Formerly of Gremio, Vanderson has enjoyed immense success since his €11 million move to Monaco in January last year.
The 21-year-old has racked up 27 league appearances in his first full season in Ligue 1, notably bagging four assists. The youngster has impressed the onlookers with his technical ability.
The report suggests that AS Monaco are willing to offload Vanderson at the end of the season and the player himself has approved a transfer. However, in order to complete the operation, Barça require the help of Deco.
The Brazilian, who is one of the favourites to replace Mateu Alemany as the sporting director at Barça, has helped the club in the past with the negotiations of Brazilian players, including Raphinha.
However, before Deco can officially join the Barcelona board, he must finalise the future of Raphinha. The former Leeds United winger has been strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou this summer as part of the club’s plan to reduce the salary mass and generate fresh income.
Only after the future of Raphinha is resolved, Deco will be in a position to join the Barcelona board and help the club with the signing of Vanderson. If everything goes well, the AS Monaco starlet could move ahead of Juan Foyth and even Joao Cancelo, on the list of Barcelona’s top targets in the righ-back position.
