Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati has once again endured a difficult campaign even though he has left his injury ordeals behind him. The 20-year-old La Masia gem endured two torrid campaigns as he had to undergo multiple operations to deal with recurring injuries.
While he is back to full fitness this season, Fati has struggled to reproduce his pre-injury form for Barcelona, leading to his game-time taking a major hit.
Indeed, while Fati has featured in most of the Blaugrana’s games this term, most of the appearances have come from the bench. Given the situation, and the club’s need for a big sale in the summer has cast doubts on the Spanish international’s continuity.
Now, according to Gerard Romero, Barcelona are internally debating on whether to loan or permanently sell Ansu in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old La Masia graduate is currently behind Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, and even Ferran Torres in the pecking order.
And with Barcelona gunning for the signing of Vitor Roque, things could get even more complicated for the Spaniard.
Of his 37 appearances across all competitions this season, only 11 have come from the start. He has also scored just six goals, which is far from what is expected of the prodigious talent.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta and director Mateu Alemany met with superagent Jorge Mendes yesterday and Fati’s name is said to have been discussed during the chat. Now, Romero adds that there is an internal debate going on whether to sell or loan him.
Whether it is a matter of confidence or a lack of consistent run in the side, what is clear is that things are not clicking for Fati right now at Barcelona. So, a loan move away might do the trick as the talent and potential is obviously there.
