Barcelona Midfield Target Downplays Rumours: “We Have Big Plans At Bayern”
Speaking in an interview with BILD (h/t SPORT), Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has dismissed the rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona, stating that he still has two years left on his contract and that the Bavarians have big plans for the future.
Kimmich has emerged as one of the main options to replace Sergio Busquets at Barcelona. With the veteran midfielder departing, the German international has been identified as one of the primary alternatives to take over from the Spaniard.
However, a move for Kimmich was never going to be easy as his market value stands at €80 million, while Bayern Munich view him as an integral part of their plans.
Despite that, some media outlets had suggested that Kimmich would be willing to force a transfer to Barcelona in the summer, much like what Robert Lewandowski had done in 2022.
However, judging by Kimmich’s words, that does not seem to be the case, as he said:
“It was hard not to find out. In general, I’m not very involved in rumours. As everyone knows, I still have two years left on my contract and we have big plans at Bayern.”
For Barcelona to stand any chance of signing Kimmich this summer, they would have needed the player to make a push for an exit from Bayern Munich.
However, going by the player’s words, it appears that an exit from the Allianz Arena is not on his mind at this point. It would potentially rule out the possibility of the Blaugrana moving for the 28-year-old German international this summer.
With Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad also making it clear that he is uninterested in a transfer, Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina appears to be the La Liga champions’ best bet to replace Busquets in the upcoming summer transfer window.
