Barcelona Will Not Have A Scout Present At U-17 World Cup – Details
- Barcelona Will Not Have A Scout Present At U-17 World Cup Due To Financial Statues.
A bizarre report from SPORT has surfaced in recent hours which highlights the magnitude of Barcelona’s financial woes.
According to the outlet, the Catalans are in such neck-deep water from an economic standpoint that they will not send any scouts to the U17 World Cup.
The competition is slated to take place between November and December this year in Indonesia.
While Barcelona may continue remote scouting, there will be no agents on site for the Spanish giants.
La Masia must pave the way
The world’s best young talents are expected to play at the event in Indonesia later this year. It will be an audition of sorts for many prodigies who will be vying to catch the attention of Europe’s elite.
Barcelona will be away from the festival of football purely for financial reasons. Yet, one knows that the club has its own set of phenomenal talents at La Masia.
The administration believes that the academy has more than enough talent to cover the team’s short and long-term future.
Lamine Yamal headlines the group, but the likes of Pau Prim, Marc Guiu, Pau Cubarsi, and Guille Fernandez are seen as long-term assets.
Moreover, the arrival of Vitor Roque addressed the team’s need for a long-term number No. 9 as well.
Several Barça starlets in action
It goes unsaid that Spain will be one of the favourites in the U17 World Cup. While it will be a matter of pride for Barcelona for La Roja to win it all, it will come at a price.
A large part of the Spanish U17’s core belongs to La Masia, with many of the aforementioned stars like Guiu, Prim, and Cubarsi expecting call-ups.
Needless to say, this could affect Barça Atletic’s campaign.
Lamine Yamal is another candidate eligible to participate in the event. However, it remains to be seen if he is called up considering that he has made his debut for the senior Spanish side at just 16 years of age.
