Bayern Munich Interested In Villarreal Defender Pau Torres
As reported by Sport1, Bayern Munich have expressed an interest in Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres.
The Spanish defender is out of contract with the Spanish side in 2024, leaving Villarreal in a similar situation to Die Rekordmeister.
Bayern would be hoping that due to the yellow submarine’s being in a position where they need to sell, the fee could be negotiated down for the defender.
The 26-year-old could also imagine moving to Bavaria which puts Bayern in a stronger position, and in contrast to former transfer target Declan Rice who prioritised remaining in London.
However, the German Champions face competition from Juventus and Aston Villa, the latter of whom are managed by former Villarreal manager Unai Emery.
Torres has featured 39 times for Villarreal in all competitions this season where he has managed to score one goal while collecting 13 clean sheets.
The Spanish international has also played his whole career for the Spanish side other than a one-season loan to Malaga which has shown his loyalty to the club which is another characteristic Bayern admire.
Bayern will be on the hunt for either one or two centre-backs this summer after both Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernández made their desire to leave Bayern this summer clear.
Torres has been understood to be an ideal Hernández replacement, however, this does not necessarily rule out a move for Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae.
