Benfica President Believes Man United Will Pay Goncalo Ramos Release Clause
Manchester United could sign Benfica star Goncalo Ramos in their search for a striker.
According to Correio da Manha (H/t Manchester Evening News), Benfica president Rui Costa believes Manchester United are willing to match Ramos’ release clause, but face competition from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain over his signature.
The report suggests Costa has already turned down an offer worth €50 million plus €10 million in performance-related add-ons from an unnamed club. Sometimes reports like this do the round to spark interest, and we’ll never find out who that bid came from…
It is suggested that Benfica want €80m for Ramos, despite his release clause being in the region of €100m.
United need to sign a striker this summer and it sounds like Harry Kane will be priced out of a move away from Tottenham.
Another target on United’s radar is Atalanta and Denmark striker Rasmus Hoijlund.
It would be a huge step up for Ramos if he was to move to the Premier League. Everyone seen how Darwin Nunez struggled last season when he joined Liverpool from the Portuguese giants.
