Borussia Dortmund have reportedly placed Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher on the club’s shortlist of potential replacements for Jude Bellingham.
Gallagher has been linked with leaving Chelsea this summer after struggling for status since returning from a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, with the midfielder starting just 12 games in the Premier League this season.
The 23-year-old was subject of an approach from Everton in January, while West Ham and Newcastle have been credited with an interest in the England international.
Sky Sports Germany are reporting that Gallagher’s Premier League suitors could have interest from Dortmund, who are monitoring the midfielder’s situation ahead of Bellingham’s anticipated exit from the Westfalenstadion.
Dortmund have not opened talks with Chelsea, but have placed Gallagher – valued in the region of €50m – on a shortlist of potential replacements.
Chelsea are understood to require substantial sales this summer in order to meet the Premier League’s financial regulations and Gallagher’s sale would count as ‘pure profit’ for the west Londoners, having progressed through the club’s academy system.
Gallagher – who was named as Crystal Palace’s Player of the Season in 2021/22 – turned down approaches last summer, but could be open to an exit at the end of the season in search of more regular football as he looks to retain his England place ahead of Euro 2024.
