L’Equipe report tonight that Neymar (31) is no longer certain of seeing out of the remainder of his bumper contract at PSG, which is set to expire in 2027. The Brazilian forward had unwelcome visitors on the doorstep of his Bougival home on Wednesday night – dozens of PSG fans chanting for him to “get lost”.
Neymar took to Instagram to respond. The forward first posted a cryptic but inoffensive message – “Don’t allow people to put you in their storm, but put them in your peace” – before liking a reel in which a Brazilian user, Ofuiclear, is particularly critical of Kylian Mbappé (24). In the video, the France captain is branded as a “prince” whose renewal led to the current PSG team being “the worst of the last few years”.
Meanwhile, his close friend and PSG teammate Lionel Messi (35) has been suspended for two weeks over his unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia. It is now widely expected that the Argentine will leave PSG this summer, with the club seemingly shifting his focus towards the signing of young French players. Neymar, evidently, does not fit that profile. According to L’Equipe, Neymar is no longer reluctant towards a departure from the French capital.
PSG Sporting advisor Luís Campos would welcome such a move, although he is not expected to directly ask for it. PSG would be willing to accept a loan with option to buy for Neymar as early as this summer.
Considering the wages Neymar is on and the length of his contract, only high-profile Premier League clubs would be able to lure Neymar away from PSG. The former Santos man, who is expected to return to action in July as he continues to recover from ankle ligament surgery, registered 13 goals and 11 assists in his 20 league appearances this year.
