Inter Milan are interested in a deal to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea this summer as the club look to sign a centre-back.
Chalobah has been placed on a shortlist of targets at Inter as the club consider replacements for Milan Skriniar, who is set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has made 12 league appearances for Chelsea this season, but could be allowed to leave as the west Londoners look to reduce their bloated squad.
Chelsea have spent more than £500m since last summer’s transfer window and need to make sales to comply with Financial Fair Play regularions.
Chalobah came through the academy system at Chelsea and as a home-grown product would count as pure profit should he be sold on. The defender – alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Conor Gallagher – has been linked with an exit as Chelsea look to balance the books.
According to reports in Italy, as per the Mail, Inter are interested in Chalobah, who faces increased competition for a first-team place from recent recruits Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile. Levi Colwill has also impressed on loan at Brighton and could be handed a chance at Stamford Bridge next season.
Former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is also on Inter’s wish-list, alongside Atalanta duo Giorgio Scalvini and Merih Demiral.
