Chelsea Identify Everton’s Amadou Onana As A Back-Up Option For Moises Caideo
Chelsea have reportedly revived their interest in Everton’s Amadou Onana if they fail to sign Moises Caideo.
The 22-year-old joined the Toffees last summer in a deal worth £33 million from Ligue 1 club Lille.
The Belgian made an impressive start to life in England, featuring in 35 games in all competitions and making three goal contributions.
He was one of the main reasons Everton survived in the Premier League, finishing just two points above Leicester City.
Chelsea were keen to secure his services in January, but the player decided to stay at Goodison Park and help his side avoid relegation.
However, journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims the Blues have revived their interest in the young defensive midfielder.
They have reportedly started talks with the Merseyside outfit, who are open to selling him if they receive a fee of around £55m.
Chelsea made several high-profile signings in the winter transfer window, but they are still looking to add another midfielder as a partner for Enzo Fernandez.
Caicedo is their number one target, but Brighton & Hove Albion’s huge demands mean they could miss out on him.
A recent report from the Telegraph suggests Brighton owner Tony Bloom values the 21-year-old as high as £120 million.
The Blues are unlikely to spend that much on Caicedo, who has also sparked interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
