Premier League side Chelsea have joined the race to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, according to Christian Falk of Bild.
Alongside Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City, Lewandowski is an option for the London club, but they know that they’re behind Barcelona and PSG in the race to sign the 33-year-old.
Barcelona are preparing to make an improved offer that exceeds €40m after their first offer for €32m plus €5m was ignored by Bayern Munich bosses. Barça president Joan Laporta is confident that they’ll be movement in the Lewandowski transfer saga shortly, even more so should Bayern sign Sadio Mané from Liverpool.
Speaking to Onet Sport last week, Lewandowski once again reiterated his desire to leave the Allianz Arena as he enters the final year of his contract: “I know what I had at Bayern and appreciate it very much. I also know that I’ve been doing my best not to disappoint the club and the fans for the past eight years. After this time, I feel that it’s time for a new stage.”
Lewandowski scored 35 goals in 34 Bundesliga games last season, as Bayern lifted their 10th consecutive league title.
