Chelsea Remain Clear Favourites For Moises Caicedo But Currently Busy With Other Deals
Chelsea remain favourites to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer, but are yet to make an official bid as the club focus on sales.
The west Londoners are set for an active summer in the transfer market as Chelsea look to reduce a bloated squad ahead of next season.
Chelsea have already agreed the sales of Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic to Arsenal and Manchester City respectively, while the club are in negotiations with Manchester United over Mason Mount.
The exits of Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech and Kalidou Koulibaly are also being finalised with each subject of approaches from The Saudi Pro League, with Chelsea’s focus on outgoings having delayed the club’s pursuit of Caicedo.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea are still working on a deal for the midfielder and personals terms are ‘almost agreed’, with the player’s priority a move to Stamford Bridge despite speculation of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
Brighton turned down offers of around £70m for the 21-year-old during the January transfer window and will hold out for a huge fee for Caicedo, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most coveted talents at the Amex Stadium.
The Ecuador international ranked second in the Premier League for both interceptions and tackles last season as Brighton secured a top-six finish and Europa League qualification.
