Cristiano Ronaldo Claims Saudi Pro League ‘Much Better’ Than MLS
- Portugal international claims Saudi Pro League is better than MLS.
Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed that the Saudi Pro League is ‘much better’ than the Major League Soccer in a recent interview.
The forward’s comments have come just a day after his greatest rival Lionel Messi was unveiled as a new Inter Miami player.
The World Cup winner was presented with his new club shirt during Sunday’s unveiling ceremony after he opted to join the MLS outfit in a highly lucrative deal earlier this summer.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo mutually terminated his Manchester United contract to join Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr in January.
Many other high-profile players, including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly, have since followed the Portuguese star to the Saudi league.
When asked about moving to the United States like Messi, Ronaldo said the Pro League is better than the MLS and that he has no plans to move there.
“The Saudi league is better than the MLS,” he said (as per Diario Ole).
“I’m 100 percent sure I won’t return to any European club. I opened the way to the Saudi league and now all the players are coming here.”
The Saudi league clubs have been very ambitious in this transfer window.
They have already signed some of the biggest names in football, including Benzema, Kante, Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Marcelo Brozovic and Roberto Firmino.
But surprisingly, even young players like Ruben Neves and Jota have also decided to move to the Middle Eastern country.
The Saudi clubs are not done yet as Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez also look close to joining Al-Ahli.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min recently revealed he turned down an offer from the Pro League as he still wants to play in the Premier League.
