CZECH REPUBLIC WON SWITZERLAND IN UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE

Czech Republic won their UEFA Nations League Group A2 debut against 2019 semi-finalists Switzerland.

Czech Republic defeated Switzerland 2-1 thanks to an early Jan Kuchta goal and a second-half own goal in a thrilling Nations League group encounter on Thursday, June 2.

The Czechs were making their debut in the Nations League and put up an impressive performance worthy of a victory after not backing down from the tough challenge presented by Switzerland.

Victory for Czech Republic puts them in a good position to qualify from Group A2 as they seek to win their first UEFA Nations League trophy at the first attempt.

How Did The Bame Go

Both teams created plenty of chances in the encounter but it was Jan Kuchta who opened the scoring in the 11th minute as he tapped in his first international goal.

Noah Okafor drew the game level for Switzerland just before the break after he pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area to make it 1-1 at halftime.

Both teams looked for a winning goal after the break, but the Czech Republic squandered two good chances from Adam Hlozek and Vladimr Coufal to take the lead for the home side ESPN reports.

Djibril Sow however became the villain for Switzerland as he scored an own goal in the 58th minute to hand the Czech Republic all three points.
