David De Gea Made Manchester United History In Carabao Cup Final
David de Gea has set a new Manchester United club record of an outstanding 181 clean sheets.
He surpassed former Red Peter Schmeichel, who set the record at 180 before De Gea took his place between the sticks on Sunday afternoon.
The Spaniard chose the perfect match to break the record, as he ended the day by lifting the Carabao Cup with his teammates at Wembley Stadium.
The final also marked an end to United’s six-year trophy drought – a promising sign of what’s yet to come for this inspired side. Erik ten Hag has been the orchestrator behind the resurgence, but each player has played a pivotal role along the way.
De Gea’s form under Ten Hag
De Gea especially has proven invaluable time and time again this season. After several years of fluctuating form and confidence, Ten Hag has instilled such belief into him that he is now back to being a world-class shot-stopper.
Congratulations to our No.1, and here’s to many more clean sheets.
