Dortmund Nets Five Goals To Cut Bayern’s Lead Once Again
Borussia Dortmund breezed past Borussia Mönchengladbach to cut Bayern Munich’s lead atop the Bundesliga to one point once again.
Dortmund 5:2 M’gladbach
Scorers: Malen 4′, Bellingham (P) 18′, Haller 20′, 32′, Reyna 93′ ; Bensebaini (P) 75′, Stindl 85′
Borussia Dortmund found the goal they needed in quick fashion, as Donyell Malen followed up a rebounded shot to head home from point-blank range to open the scoring.
After a back and forth twenty minutes, Dortmund started to break away thanks to a Jude Bellingham strike from the penalty-spot, relieving some pressure inside of the Signal Iduna Park.
The game was all but put to bed just two minutes later, as Sébastien Haller capped off a superb team move with an audacious back-heel flick for Dortmund’s third of the day. Haller continued on, scoring his second and Dortmund’s fourth before the break to cap off a thoroughly one-sided first half.
Late strikes from Ramy Bensebaini and Lars Stindl were mere consolation goals for Mönchengladbach, and a stoppage time response from Gio Reyna ensured Dortmund collect all three points to keep the title dream alive.
