The race to sign Jude Bellingham is hotting up as we enter the final phase of the campaign. Both Real Madrid and Manchester City are in contention to sign the Borussia Dortmund starlet, who looks likely to leave the club at the end of the season.
Reports from England yesterday suggested that Manchester City are leading the chase and could soon reunite Bellingham with his former Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland. The report even claimed that Real Madrid are pursuing Bernardo Silva as an alternative.
However, according to the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have not given up on Bellingham just yet. The Englishman is the club’s transfer priority for the coming summer and are expected to do everything they can to sign the youngster.
Fabrizio claims Real Madrid are “pushing a lot” to get their hands on Bellingham, whose acquisition could prove to be useful as the club make plans for life without Luka Modric.
The veteran midfielder, at the age of 38, has no desire to put an end to his career at Santiago Bernabeu just yet. However, he is more than likely to depart come the end of next season, which has accentuated the need for a creative midfielder.
Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Celta Vigo’s rising star Gabri Veiga. But the youngster is also courted by other clubs including Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United.
Speaking of Liverpool, though, the Reds have fallen back in the race to sign Bellingham due to their ongoing ownership issues. Therefore, the road is clear for Real Madrid and Man City as they look to sign the Borussia Dortmund starlet, who is set to cost a fortune in this coming summer.
