- Christo Lamprecht is a South African amateur golfer. In 2023, he became the third South African in six years to win The Amateur Championship, giving him exemptions to the 2023 Open Championship, 2024 Masters Tournament and 2024 U.S. Open. He is noted for his height of 6 ft 8 in.
Christo Lamprecht’s parents, Christo Sr. and Ronel Lamprecht do not have an athletic background. The couple comes from an account and marketing background.
Previously, talking about his family, Christo touched on the topic of height, something for which he came into the spotlight. And you might be shocked to know that 6’4 is the shortest height any man in his family has reached in the last five generations.
Lamprecht, 22, was born and raised in Western Cape, South Africa. After earning success in the South African golf championship, Christo traveled to the US and enrolled at Georgia Tech.
The youngster qualified for the final men’s major of the year, The Open, after winning the Amateur Championship last month. Lamprecht took an early lead in the competition after shooting a 5-under 66 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
But the youngster has fallen out in the last few sessions and is set to win the Silver Medal, becoming the sole amateur to make the cut. Tommy Fleetwood has maintained his lead and sits in the second, with Brian Harman jumping to the first position.
Christo Lamprecht Parents, Christo Sr, And Ronel Lamprecht
Christo Lamprecht’s parents, Christo Sr., and Ronel De Klerk Lamprecht, raised three kids in West Cape, South Africa.
Christo Sr. introduced the sport to his son when he was only three. Standing at 6’8, Christo has previously said he is blessed with tall genetics from his father’s side family.
Christo Sr Is A Chartered Accountant
In an interview, Christo said his father, who stands at 6’4, is the shortest male member of their family’s last five generations. His grandfather, like him, was 6’8, and his great-grandfather was 7′.
And though Christo Sr introduced the sport to his son, he didn’t play the sport professionally. Christo Sr graduated from the University of South Africa in 1989 with a degree in accounting and finance.
He became internal audit manager for PetroSA in 1990 and remained there until 1993 when he joined Coastal Petroleum Suppliers.
Christo Sr has been a Chartered Accountant for the past three decades and works at Gloucester Accounting Services as a managing partner. Christ Sr is available on Facebook and has mostly shared family pictures.
Ronel Lamprecht Works As Marketer At High School
Previously, Christo shared an appreciation post for his mom on Mother’s Day in 2022.
Ronel Lamprecht graduated from Stellenbosch University with a degree in social work. She works at Outqniqua High School as a marketer.
On her Facebook page, Ronel has shared mostly throwback pictures of her family, including a sweet picture of her hugging her son during their boating trip.
Christo Lamprecht Shares Two Sisters
Christo Lamprecht isn’t the only child of his parents, Christo Sr., and Ronel Lamprecht. He has two older sisters, Jeanne and Marileen.
Jeanne and Marileen have made appearances on their brother’s Instagram page, with Christo previously sharing a family picture including them.
His sister, Jeanne Hugo, works at Babylonstoren, a working farm with a hotel, spa, farm-to-table restaurants, and winery. She joined the job in 2020, a year after she tied the knot with Niel Hugo.
His other older sister, Marileen, graduated from Stellenbosch University and previously worked at Buitendag & Associates Architecture and Malherbe Rust Architects.
Like Jeanne, Marileen is also a married woman and tied the knot with Willem Dirkse van Schalkwyk last year on January 8, 2022. Marileen has shared a few wedding pictures on her Facebook handle.
Both sisters are available on Instagram but have kept their accounts private.
