FORMER AL AHLY ASSISTANT COACH CAVIN JOHNSON RUMOURED TO TAKE THE POSITION OF HEAD COACH ROLE AT ROYAL AM
Former Al Ahly assistant coach Cavin Johnson is reportedly being looked at as the main candidate to take over as coach of Royal AM.
Former Al Ahly assistant coach Cavin Johnson is rumoured to be in pole position for the unfilled head coach role at Royal AM.
This comes after the very surprising departure of John Maduka, who then moved up KwaZulu-Natal’s N3 to take over the hotseat at Maritzburg United.
As reported by Soccer Laduma, Johnson, Gavin Hunt and Dan Malesela have been heavily touted with moves to Thwihli Thwahla.
The 63-year-old has been without a club after also unexpectedly leaving Pitso Mosimane at Al Ahly in October last year, following a successful spell in Cairo that saw cups come in regularly and without stop.
Since coming back to South Africa, Johnson was also linked with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Also, the former AmaZulu and Black Leopards coach was supposedly in the hat for SuperSport United’s search for a head coach.
According to the article, it now remains to be seen whether the Royal owner Shauwn Mkhize decides to appoint the experienced Johnson as the club’s new head coach or if she takes a different approach in the coming weeks.
It will be a hectic campaign next season for Royal, having qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup, as per TimesLIVE.
