Four Real Madrid Stars At Risk Of Getting Suspended For Real Sociedad Encounter
Following their midweek mishap against Girona FC away in Catalonia, Real Madrid return to home comforts this weekend as they host UD Almeria at the Santiago Bernabeu later today.
Real Madrid will be looking to leave behind the 4-2 humiliation at the hands of Girona and produce a strong reaction in front of their supporters, especially given the need to build up some steam ahead of important games against Real Sociedad, Osasuna, and Manchester City.
In the lead-up to the game, Real Madrid were dealt with a major injury blow as Luka Modric has been ruled out for at least two weeks with a hamstring issue.
But there was some good news as well, as Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and Eden Hazard all recovered from their issues and are back for the game. Dani Ceballos also returns to the squad after serving a one-match ban for accumulation of yellow cards.
Speaking of accumulation of cards, Real Madrid have as many as four players who are at the risk of getting suspended if they pick up a yellow in today’s game against Almeria.
Indeed, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, and Vinicius Jr are all in danger of missing the next La Liga match against Real Sociedad if they get cautioned by the referee in the match against Almeria.
Carvajal, Militao, and Camavinga are all on four yellow cards currently. Given that Real Madrid are already light in numbers in defence with the absence of David Alaba and Ferland Mendy due to injuries, losing any of these three players could be a blow for Carlo Ancelotti.
As for Vinicius, the Brazilian is on nine yellows after picking up one more in the midweek game against Girona. Considering his importance to the team, his absence would be a major hindrance, especially against a tough opposition like Real Sociedad.
